Traffic Tickets
The majority of traffic citations issued are for speeding violations. Points are determined and assessed by the Department of Transportation (DOT), not the judge or the police. For example, the judge cannot order the DOT to assess three points if you are convicted of a four point ticket.Speeding tickets fall into three categories:
- 1-10 mph over the limit = 3 points
- 11-19 mph over the limit = 4 points
- 20 or more over the limit = 6 points

Parking Tickets
Calendar parking regulations are in effect at various times in the City of Verona, as are handicap parking and snow emergency regulations. For further information, please contact the Verona Police Department.Parking tickets are issued to the registered owner of the vehicle. If others drive your vehicle and receive parking tickets, the ticket will be issued to you because you are the owner. A ticket is placed on the vehicle by the officer, and gives the owner 5 days to pay $10. These tickets do not go through the court system. If you wish to contest a parking ticket, contact the municipal court clerk or the police department to obtain a pretrial request form.
If you do not pay or come to court, a notice of non-payment will be mailed to the address shown on the citation. Non-payment may result in the suspension of your registration plates. You will not be allowed to renew your registration until the ticket is paid.
